Palaces, culture, museums, music, art, history, architecture, the Danube river, the capital of Austria has it all. Additional to this is the cosmopolitan environment with a milieu of students from many parts of the world.

Last week we visited the USA. This week we take a westwards direction from there and stop in another country – a country that counts a decent number of years in its own history, has an atmosphere that is filled with contrast, has held onto many of its traditions to the present time, and can probably boast the hardest-working people in the world. Visit Japan, the country of the rising sun.
Something quick and light and easy to pick up during the day, often not even following the usual concept of breakfast, lunch, and dinner. That’s what many people think of, when they think of food during hot summer days. But autumn, that is quite a different story. Autumn has its own rules and, believe it or not, also its own meals: heavier, colourful, and warm, of course. Today we at YT have chosen for you the most typical autumn dishes.
The town of Zlín, in the Czech Republic, is in many aspects a very unique place. The name Baťa doesn't need a lot of introduction worldwide. The Baťa shoe manufacturing enterprise was truly a revolutionary commercial concept that withstood many historical obstacles and grew into a business empire. The name Baťa is reflected in many ways within the town. Now rare are, for example, the houses called Baťa houses, which Tomáš Baťa built for his rapidly increasing work force and which give the town its typical look. What all you should not miss while studying in Zlín. See our gallery.
Three hundred years of shoemaking as a tiny family trade and then came Tomas Baťa who established Baťa, a brand that became synonymous with shoes. Continuing with our series on university towns, this week we talk about Zlin. However, it is unthinkable to talk about Zlin without Baťa.
After spending the last three weeks in Latin America, it's time for the YT travel series to move on and visit North America, the USA in particular. Understandably, we don't aim to cover all the States in a limited number of photographs, but we hope to induce a feel of the place through the ones we are able to publish. The USA in photographs.
We discussed the difference between fruits and vegetables in our most recent article in the series on Basic Ingredients in the kitchen, this one titled Fruit Prepared Eleven Different Ways. This time we explore the possibilities of using vegetables in the kitchen.
University cities are the new topic of our weekly series, and the aim is to bring to our readers the best of the places that are truly students‘ cities. One of these is Olomouc in the Czech Republic – a beautiful small city nearly 300 km east of the capital of Prague. Whoever visits Olomouc will agree that it is a wonderful place to live. Olomouc’s slower pace, as the locals happily admit, makes people cheerful and welcoming. What more does Olomouc offer? See our photogallery.
Although Olomouc has just one university, it deserves a special mention. First of all a little about Olomouc which is in Moravia in the Czech Republic. The people of this city are known to be especially friendly and helpful. During a recent visit I discovered first hand that this reputation is well deserved. And what is one to say about Olomouc itself. Pretty as a picture, the city vibrates with positive energy all round.
