Last week we visited the USA.  This week we take a westwards direction from there and stop in another country – a country that counts a decent number of years in its own history, has an atmosphere that is filled with contrast, has held onto many of its traditions to the present time, and can probably boast the hardest-working people in the world. Visit Japan, the country of the rising sun.

For some, good public transport is the gold standard for positive development in a city, while for others the absence of public transport signifies almost nothing. Overall, advanced public transport means, among other things, a reduction in the number of vehicles, and therefore has a positive impact on the environment.

The emancipation of women is a process that has been accelerating with every passing year. Unfortunately, there is still a long way to go. Given the fact that women, at one time, had an important and respected position within society, it is sad to observe quite the opposite in so-called modern times. Nevertheless, let's be happy that the movement is in place and watch some of the most powerful movies on this topic.

Tour Through USA

After spending the last three weeks in Latin America, it's time for the YT travel series to move on and visit North America, the USA in particular. Understandably, we don't aim to cover all the States in a limited number of photographs, but we hope to induce a feel of the place through the ones we are able to publish. The USA in photographs.

We discussed the difference between fruits and vegetables in our most recent article in the series on Basic Ingredients in the kitchen, this one titled Fruit Prepared Eleven Different Ways. This time we explore the possibilities of using vegetables in the kitchen.

University cities are the new topic of our weekly series, and the aim is to bring to our readers the best of the places that are truly students‘ cities. One of these is Olomouc in the Czech Republic – a beautiful small city nearly 300 km east of the capital of Prague. Whoever visits Olomouc will agree that it is a wonderful place to live. Olomouc’s slower pace, as the locals happily admit, makes people cheerful and welcoming. What more does Olomouc offer? See our photogallery.

Although Olomouc has just one university, it deserves a special mention. First of all a little about Olomouc which is in Moravia in the Czech Republic. The people of this city are known to be especially friendly and helpful. During a recent visit I discovered first hand that this reputation is well deserved. And what is one to say about Olomouc itself. Pretty as a picture, the city vibrates with positive energy all round.

It’s been two weeks since our last listing of festivals and we are now in the middle of October. The new list is going to take you to the most engaging events in different parts of the world.

Following up on tours through Brazil and Venezuela from the last two weeks, we will stay for yet a while longer in Latin America and visit another country there - Peru. Apart from visiting the iconic Machu Picchu, there are other places to go in Peru. One thing is for certain. While most guides warn visitors about the dangerous parts of the Peruvian capital at Lima, nothing can threaten us while going through photographs of the places that are worth seeing.

Diamonds have been glorified since modern history. The so called royalty, movie stars and the rich buy diamonds for show and pomp and also as investments. It is said there was a time one could walk along in South Africa and Botswana and kick diamonds as children do stones. So what made these gemstones a commodity to lust for?
